AVG Anti-Virus Pro
In addition to the regular anti-virus features that provide every aspect of virus scanning like email scanning, email attachment scanning, boot scanning, auto updating of the virus definitions: AVG Anti-Virus Pro from Grisoft has an interface provided by which one can perform additional tasks : a view of the tests those can be run, the scheduled tasks, the test results etc.
You can choose an option from the basic test interface: the Complete Test, Removable Media Test and Quick Test.
User Experience
When the user logs in, the AVG Control Center (AVGCC) allows to edit various settings through it and also allows to monitor the status of the individual components. The user knows that the system is working correctly if it appears multicolored and turns grey when there is a problem which can be corrected by opening the windows of AVGCC.
AVG Anti-Virus passed ICSA 2007, and level 1 and 2 from West Coast Labs but did not enter the fray to have the VB100%.

It is almost automatic to install and update. It has components like AVG Email Scanner (for checking incoming and outgoing e-mail), AVG Resident Shield (for checking viruses with file manipulation) and AVG Virus Vault (a place where infected files are placed).
It is capable to run on multiple operating systems. In case of a virus attack, AVG creates a rescue disk and scans the computer in MS-DOS mode, without affecting the system. The interfaces are simple to navigate. Free versions can be sufficient for a system, but for a sophisticated user, AVG Anti-Virus Professional is available.
It is easy to use and fairly effective. It works fast. However, it doesn’t have a firewall, and it doesn’t stop SPAM. But it does its job perfectly and fast taking 25 minutes to scan 80 GB.
It updates daily if you schedule it without any requirement of user intervention. The affected files are kept in a Virus Vault where these can be fixed or can be deleted.
When it scans the email, it stamps as scanned but this feature can be disabled.
What is new with AVG Antivirus
AVG Anti-Virus allows you to create an MS-DOS Rescue Disk from the Control Center.
Scheduling options allow the next task to be accomplished in case, one task is missed and are programmed to carry on even if there is no user logged onto the computer.

AVG Anti-Virus can be set up with 1,2,3 and 5 computers and are purchased for 1 or 2 years, which includes program and database updates and full technical support for the license duration.
AVG is preferred to some others because of speed, effectiveness and cost.
